PHASE 2 — OPERATIONAL PILOT

A district cooling portfolio under continuous optimisation, with every kilowatt-hour accounted for.

Phase 2 takes what Phase 1 proves on one site and runs it across a full portfolio. The defining feature is the savings ledger below: an hour-by-hour comparison of what the estate would have drawn against what it drew under CoolGrid guidance, rolled up into energy, peak demand, cost and carbon.

What you are looking at. The weather driving this portfolio is real, pulled hourly from a public meteorological API for Dubai. The plant telemetry is a clearly labelled simulation — no operator has connected a plant to the savings model yet. The savings shown below are therefore modelled, not achieved. This page exists to show exactly how the Phase 2 ledger works and what a partner would receive. Any real operator data, and any savings measured from it, live on the operator estate page, which only ever shows metered readings.

LIVE ESTATE — REAL OPERATOR DATA

No operator estate is connected yet.

This dashboard reads directly from chiller plant records submitted by district cooling operators through the partner portal. As soon as one operator opts a site into the public estate view, their real energy, load, delta-T and utilisation appear here — anonymised, with no site names, owners or raw records exposed. Until then the only numbers on this page are the clearly labelled model below.

HOW THE LEDGER IS CALCULATED

The method, stated openly.

  1. 1. Baseline. Energy the plant drew as it actually ran, hour by hour, against the real weather of that hour. In a funded pilot this is a weather-normalised regression fitted during an unguided baseline period, exactly as in Phase 1.
  2. 2. Delta-T recovery. Where the temperature difference falls below the 8.5 K design value, the plant is moving more water than the load needs. The recoverable share is capped at 9% so the model cannot flatter itself.
  3. 3. Peak staging. Above 60% capacity utilisation, pre-cooling and staging shift demand off the top of the curve. Peak reduction is capped at 12%.
  4. 4. Conversion. Cost uses an assumed AED 0.44/kWh and carbon an assumed 0.42 kg CO₂e/kWh. Both are configurable assumptions, replaced with the partner's actual tariff and grid factor in a real deployment.

WHAT PHASE 2 ADDS

Beyond a single building.

  • Portfolio-wide dispatch. Guidance is coordinated across sites so plants do not all pre-cool into the same network peak.
  • Continuous measurement and verification. The ledger runs permanently rather than for one 8-week window, with monthly statements a finance team can audit.
  • Operator-grade controls. Role-based access, recommendation audit trails, and comfort limits enforced per site.
  • Funder reporting. Under the Dubai Resilience Challenge Fund, Phase Two is up to AED 1.5M and capped at AED 750K per year, and progression from Phase One is not automatic. CoolGrid has no affiliation with the fund; figures come from its published guidelines.
